As in every writers life, life gets pretty good, comfortable even and in said times, somtimes material is hard to focus on.

Sometimes when there is nothing to fix there is nothing to disect and thus nothing to write about.  I guess that is how “MaKe Contact” came about.  I was writing to my Muse, my subconscious.

“Have I been blind, I can not seem to find a single line, no words, no rymes, no nothing comes to mind, I just sit here on my thumbs drawing circles with a dime.”

So on and so forth, but now I need human interaction.  I want to help people deal with what they are going through.  Ask Dr. Ryan, much like Dr. Phil though I am not licensed but I do love to listen and watch.

So if you have a problem, if your struggling with something or someone, let me know.  I would love to hear about what is going on with my readers.

October 23, 2006, 1:54 pm : Story Behind “Angry Chad”

So here is a little story about the song Angry Chad

Chad Is a buddy of mine, one Nashville morning I get a call 10:00 or so,  from Chad,  He is in Jail in Kentucky, needing bail.  I think it is something like $7,000 or something, I guess he has quite a few unpaid speeding tickets.

So he needs me to raise the money then drive 4 hours to go get him out.  This is what friends do.  But we are waiters, $7000 is not easily accessable to say the least. So we are calling all friends, all family.  I have one guy who can give $500 here but he gets out of school on the east side at 3:00,  then there is this girl that we have to catch before she starts work on the West side at 3:30 and so on and so on.

The last person that is getting us the final moola in the form of a bank card at 8:00 right before his night class. So I get the $7,000 dollars and another friend wants to go with me so I pick him up and we start off.  We get 30 min into the trip and Chad calls cussing us out that it took so long. Saying  “don’t bother now, you left me here to rot,  I have to be in court tomorrow at 6:00 am.”

So when he gets back to Nashville the next day he sends word that he is pissed. Pissed at us, the ones spending all day tracking down money, the ones organizing the rescue and the ones in the car going to pick him up.

Well time heals all wounds and a few weeks later it is all worked out.  So he comes to my house with a bottle of wine and says tonight we are hitting the town, we hop in his car and head downtown, about 6 -7miles from my place.

So the night moves on and somehow I lose Chad, the Bar Closes and everyone is shuffling out, I wait at the front looking for Chad.  Hmmm no Chad.  I wait a bit longer.  No Chad.  So I think crazy me he is waiting at his car, I go to were his car used to be and no Chad, no car. Hmmmmm this sucks.

I call to say “things happen just call and let me know what so that I am not pissed.”  No Call.   Thanks for “not calling”.   So there is the beginning line in the song. ”You can pick me up I will be right were you left me, By the car if there’s no car I’ll just assume you were arrested.”

So weeks go by and no call form Chad. Then out of the blue he asks me to play a writers night in Nashvegas.  This is his first call since the “stand up”  he makes no mention of the incident.  So I play the writers night,  I spend a few hours before hand writing this song to tell him how I feel. “I’m Fine I’m well but you can go to hell for not calling,” Stating incident after incident so that he has to know I am talking about him.  Long story short I play the song we laugh it is now his favorite and we are good friends.

Listen to Angry Chad

So you want to know who Lauren is huh? Well here is the truth and here is a pre-emptive “Im sorry.”

After college I moved into an apartment complex with a buddy from Cleveland.  He only knew me from Nashville and I had a friend that lived a few doors down.  Her best friend was a girl named Lauren.  In the effort of having something cheap to do on a Wednesday night, we would get a few bottles of wine and invite them over to watch Felicity.

I hated Felicity but in keeping in good graces with them Mike acted like he liked it.  Anyway Lauren would come over every Wednesday with here free spirit.  Her dark hair.  Making no buts about the fact that she was dating 3 guys.  She flirted with both of us.  At times both of us found ourselves being attracted to Lauren.

We would ease into the subject so not to offend the other, then laugh at how stupid we were in even thinking that we would want to be one of the many.  Lauren would say that each of the guys were so different.

One had a great job and was nice but was not exciting enough.  One was broke but a blast and one was a model that owned the nightlife.  Each ones great trait made up the perfect man.  She defined herself by the guys she dated.  And was endearing enough that we all came along.

That is Lauren.  We miss you Lauren!

Listen to Lauren and hear the rest.

I am lovin all the LAURENS on Myspace by the way.  Thanks for all your great messages about the song.  I never thought a song about a friend would hit so many girls to movement.  You girls are the best.  If all of you write into the MTV show “THE HILLS” I bet we could get it on MTV.  One more Lauren that is taking names and bustin balls  We are just starting to book up the rest of the year with some acoustic moments and some where the hole band will rock the stage.

Love you all, Cory
